In this article we will explain what the shortest duration setting does and in which scenarios this would be helpful to you. We will also show you how to set it up.
In the ProAgenda system we have a feature that we call: Shortest duration. This setting makes sure that your ProAgenda schedule does not have any lost slots between your client bookings. For example, if your schedule is set up in 15-minute slots and your shortest appointment duration is 30 minutes. The system makes sure a client can not book an appointment that leaves an empty 15-minute slot thus preventing timeless.
Example:
- My schedule is set to have 30-minute timeslots.
- My bookable appointment types are either 60 or 90 minutes long
- I set my shortest duration setting to 60 minutes
- My availability ends at 8 PM
At the end of the day, your schedule has 3 available slots: 6.30 PM, 7.00 PM, and 7.30 PM. Our system will recognize that a booking of 60 minutes from 6.30 PM to 7.30 PM will cause the slot of 7.30 PM to 8.00 PM to be unbookable because you do not offer a 30-minute appointment type. In this case, the client will only be able to schedule a 90-minute appointment starting at 6.30 PM causing your available time to be fully utilized.
In summary: Set your shortest duration setting to be the same as the shortest appointment type you offer to your clients. This makes sure there is always room left for a booking and you do not loose valuable time.
