Engage with your clients during the COVID-19 lockdown

In this blog, we would like to give you some tips and advice on how to interact with your clients during the current lockdown. Most of you are not able to give any on-site lessons and are stuck at home. This, of course, has a major impact on your business and income and you are losing contact with your clients. However, it is now more important than ever to stay in touch with your clients and keep offering them tips, advice, entertainment and so on as they are also stuck at home and unable to go to the course. This will greatly benefit your business at the moment we all have the green light to get out there again.

Remote coaches are constantly active and are pushing a lot of information to their clients. Without any face-to-face contact, staying passive will create a distance between you and your clients. In the current period without any real moments of contact, it is your duty as a coach to keep your clients on board. Regardless of your clients’ goals, you need to keep some sort of motivational connection alive.

You can do this by highlighting other athletes’ performance or to show what you have achieved in golf, whether it is in coaching, tour performances or in training. This will help you build a community and to keep your clients motivated. This is the time to start showing your ongoing support.

There are so many ways to set up online coaching. In the end, how broad you want to set up your online business and create that motivational connection comes down to you.

You can start with the basics, collect and share videos of yourself or others with your clients. For example to show how others are preparing for the new season or how you would like your clients to prepare for it.

You don’t have to look far and you’ll find home workouts, drills, assignments of any industry you’re interested in. For golf, the Instagram accounts of Luke DonaldMeandmygolf and others are sharing golf drills. So, whether you have the time and set up to make your own coaching or you browse social media. There is no excuse to not send valuable golf drills to your clients.

Of course, you can also extend your services from just entertainment to actual online coaching. The ProAgenda.com system allows your clients to send a video to you which you can analyze ad send back. This way you can build a client portfolio and keep teaching them while in lockdown.

You can also take it a step further and create training plans where you can ask your client to upload a video (from a part) of their swing to their ProAgenda.com account, read how to. You can analyze and give your expertise as you would do on the range.

You could do this free of charge but you could also charge your client for any analysis of course. You, for example, let your clients sign up for a paid daily/weekly mailing or create extensive packages for one-on-one online coaching sessions that you can follow up to once the range is open for business again.

Another idea to generate some income now that you really need it, it could be a good idea to create an appointment package with special discounts. The appointments can be taken at the moment we can all get back to teaching again but will create some revenue for you right now. This will reward your clients’ loyalty to you as well. Remember that it is definitely not a sign of weakness to call for support in the current situation. You can rather call it a sign of solidarity from your students.

Stay safe and healthy.
